At the same time, the country cannot supply the planes itself
Belgium is ready to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighters. This was reported by the publication DeMorgen with reference to the office of the Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo, as well as the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak in Telegram.
As DeMorgen writes, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the F-16 issue with Prime Ministers of Belgium Alexander De Croo and Mark Rutte of the Netherlands.
“During the summit in The Hague earlier this month, the F-16 issue was also discussed during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the Prime Minister. We said that we cannot supply planes, but we can train pilots,” the Belgian Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.
Later, Andrii Yermak wrote words of thanks to Belgium for the decision to train Ukrainian pilots.
“We need fighters and we thank the allies for the decision to work in this direction. In particular, Belgium also confirmed its willingness to train pilots,” the head of the President’s Office noted.
We will remind that the Belgian government is preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine.
By the way, the prime ministers of Great Britain and the Netherlands agreed to work on coalition regarding fighter jets for Ukraine.
As reported, in summer Velika Britain will start training Ukrainian pilots on military aircraft.
